Ceremony styling inspo & how to repurpose your flowers for the reception.

Why a Wedding Arbour is a Must-Have for Stunning Photos

When it comes to planning your wedding ceremony, there’s one detail that can make a significant difference in how your photos turn out: a beautifully styled arbour. Whether it’s adorned with lush florals, trailing greenery, or minimalist modern elements, an arbour is more than just a decorative piece—it’s a visual anchor that frames you and your partner during the most important moment of the day.

The Photographic Magic of an Arbour

From a photography perspective, an arbour works wonders for your ceremony shots. Think of it as a frame within a frame—it naturally draws attention to the two of you, creating a focal point that makes your images look intentional and well-composed. The added structure also gives context to the scene, telling a richer story of your day and adding depth to your photos. Whether your backdrop is a serene garden, a sweeping coastal vista, or a rustic barn, an arbour enhances the visual appeal and elevates the entire setting.

Make the Most of Your Ceremony Setup

One of the best things about investing in a stunning arbour is its versatility. Speak to your floral designer about repurposing it for your reception. For example, your arbour can serve as a gorgeous backdrop behind your bridal table, or it can frame the lectern for speeches. This not only ensures your beautiful design doesn’t go to waste but also creates continuity in your wedding décor—and, of course, ensures your reception photos look just as incredible as your ceremony ones.

Why Styling Matters at the Reception

The same principle applies to your reception setup. Thoughtfully styled spaces, such as the bridal table or the speech area, can transform ordinary photos into extraordinary keepsakes. Imagine your first toast as newlyweds framed by cascading florals or your heartfelt speeches captured against a backdrop that matches the elegance of your day. These details not only enhance your photos but also elevate the overall guest experience.

A Worthwhile Investment

Styling your wedding ceremony and reception with elements like an arbour isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about creating an unforgettable atmosphere and ensuring your photos are as breathtaking as the memories they represent. With a bit of creativity and collaboration with your florist and stylist, you can maximize every design element, making your day—and your photos—unforgettable.

Bendooley Estate

It’s no secret Bendooley Estate is my most popular venue for couples- So I’ve grouped together some images exclusively from Bendooley to make it easier.

- Images for inspo from the Book Barn and Pavillion at Bendooley Estate, Southern Highlands. Keep scrolling for the Stables.

Bendooley Estate- The Stables

If you are getting married at the magnificent Stables at Bendooley Estate, remember that the feature ring can not be repurposed. I’ve been seeing some great designs that include floor plinths recently which have been able to be repurposed o the inside. However the ring looks spectacular when abundant in florals and makes a wonderful backdrop for group and family photos too.

But what does repurposing look like in real life?

CHRISTINA AND TOBY- BENDOOLEY STABLES

We were able to utilise Christina and Tobys beautiful arch for their first look photos, as well as the ceremony/ groups shots and then reception afterwards. I loved how it framed the couple especially during the reception speech reaction shots!
